Happy Women's Day

A day full of what's app forwards, memes and wishes celebrating women's day. 

Jokes galore about how many days men get and how many do women get and how the maths changes because it's a leap year.  

And then heartfelt greetings from my daughters accompanied by kisses and hugs and an earnest question. 

"What is women's day, mama?"

How does one explain the complexity that is today to a 6 year old? The history, the progress, the long road ahead. How it is a day of gratitude for some, a day of protest for others and there is no one way of celebrating it. 

Perhaps it is enough that I told her that today is the day I remind myself that I can do whatever I want but not all that I want. And hope that I have a better answer next year.
